This collective, formed by four well-established hacking gangs and a malware forum, aims to establish better unity and connections in the underground world of the internet and to expand and grow their work and operations. The name 'Five Families' is inspired by the prominent Italian-American families involved in the New York mafia in the 1950s and 1960s.
